Following safeguard measures adopted by the United States in the form of a tariff increase on imports of certain steel and aluminium products, effective with respect to the European Union on 1 June 2018, with an unlimited duration, the European Commission has adopted a new Regulation on certain commercial policy measures concerning certain products originating in the United States of America and amending Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/724.
According to the Commission implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/886, the Union shall apply additional customs duties of a rate of 25% on imports into the Union of some products originating in the United States of America , such as:
- vegetables or legumes – fresh and preserved;
- maize;
- rice;
- cereal products;
- peanut butter;
- fruit juices;
- whiskey;
- cigarettes, cigars and tobacco;
- make-up products;
- T-shirts;
- cotton pants;
- linen;
- footwear;
- steels, worked in cast iron, iron and steel;
- tubes;
- parts of metal constructions;
- tanks;
- wire cloths;
- chains;
- bolts screws etc;
- stoves, boilers, etc;
- radiators;
- aluminum;
- motorcycles sup. at 500 cc;
- boats
