Following safeguard measures adopted by the United States in the form of a tariff increase on imports of certain steel and aluminium products, effective with respect to the European Union on 1 June 2018, with an unlimited duration, the European Commission has adopted a new Regulation on certain commercial policy measures concerning certain products originating in the United States of America and amending Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/724.

According to the Commission implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/886, the Union shall apply additional customs duties of a rate of 25% on imports into the Union of some products originating in the United States of America , such as:

  • vegetables or legumes – fresh and preserved;
  • maize;
  • rice;
  • cereal products;
  • peanut butter;
  • fruit juices;
  • whiskey;
  • cigarettes, cigars and tobacco;
  • make-up products;
  • T-shirts;
  • cotton pants;
  • linen;
  • footwear;
  • steels, worked in cast iron, iron and steel;
  • tubes;
  • parts of metal constructions;
  • tanks;
  • wire cloths;
  • chains;
  • bolts screws etc;
  • stoves, boilers, etc;
  • radiators;
  • aluminum;
  • motorcycles sup. at 500 cc;
  • boats
